iPhone Maker Foxconn plans to build its first facility in the city’s northern India, with 300 acres of eyes

Most phone manufacturers, including Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Dixon and Lava, have production units in the state. Together, these brands account for more than 80% of the country’s smartphone market share.
iPhone Maker Foxconn reportedly plans to build its first facility in northern Noida. The PTI said Taiwanese electronics manufacturers and the Uttar Pradesh government have begun discussions on the facility. Foxconn is the country’s largest iPhone maker. The investment promotion was invested to Foxconn at the final land allocation of the HCL-FoxConn Chip joint venture VAMA SUNDARI. Official sources at the centre also confirmed that discussions have begun to establish a Foxconn electronic manufacturing service unit in Uttar Pradesh. The UP government has allocated 48 acres of land for the Vama Sundari project in Yeida District 28. The joint venture will initially invest Rs 3,706 crore to establish an outsourcing semiconductor components and testing (OSAT) facility and hope to create about 4,000 jobs.
“The Uttar Pradesh government invested in a discussion with Foxconn to get it to obtain the electronics manufacturing department in the state. During the discussion, the state government mentioned the availability of 300 acres under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Agency (YEIDA). Another source in the discussion said, “The discussion is in its initial stages. There is no discussion on the type of product…Foxconn will produce.” The query sent to the Uttar Pradesh government has not been answered yet, and Foxconn has not commented on the development.

These brands collectively account for more than 80% of the country’s smartphone market share in Utter Pradesh. According to ICEA, India’s mobile phone exports had an all-time high of Rs 20 billion in fiscal 2024-25, up 55% from Rs 1.29 billion in fiscal 2023-24. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that iPhones alone account for exports worth Rs 1.5 billion in smartphone segments.
