When Vaibhav Suryavanshi was trapped by Rishabh Pant, tears rolled into Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s eyes.

The 14-year-old batsman became the youngest player to make his debut in the Indian Premier League and could not accept such a sack.

As he slowly went back and nodded in disappointment, a crowded Sawai Mansingh Stadium chanted his name in recognition of Saturday’s efforts.

After all, not many people would have expected a teenager to play shardul thakur six to start his IPL campaign. Rajasthan Royals batsman didn’t look once under pressure, on his way to 20-34 against the Lucknow Super Giants.

He comes from Samastipur, about 100 kilometers from Patna, who made his debut in Mumbai last January. In September, he continued to score 58 goals for India in the youth test against Australia Century and is also a key member of India’s Under-19 Asian Cup.

His consistent performance at the junior level has attracted the attention of the IPL Scouts. When he was in the trial, RR eventually picked him for Rs 11 crore at a major auction in November.

The young man has since conducted a long boot camp in his franchise at the Nagpur-based academy and since then RR has ensured Suryavanshi is away from focus as it may distract him.

After seven games this season, his chance was finally missed by Sanju Samson due to injury. “He’s a great kid and he has a really good head on his shoulders. I think his game is close to 360 degrees. He’s brave, he’s brave, you obviously see.”
