A day after communal violence and arson shook Nagpur during protests against Aurangzeb’s grave, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) continued its demand that a memorial dedicated to Dhanaji Jadhav, Santaji Ghorpade, and Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj should be built in place of the Mughal emperor’s burial point.

In the video message, VHP Secretary General Milind Parande strongly condemned the violence in Nagpur and claimed that the arson and attacks on local people and public property were carried out by part of the minority community.
“The attack by the Muslim mob was an attack by the youth wing of VHP. Anti-social elements.

The VHP Secretary General also said that the glory of the Aurangzeb grave in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Nagar should be stopped. He demanded that instead of the Mughal master’s grave, a ‘Vijay Smarak’ (memorial) of those who defeated Aurangzeb, like Dhanaji Jadhav and Santaji Ghorpade, as well as that of Chhatrapati Shri Rajaramji Maharaj, should be built there.
