Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB) shows some split personality in IPL 2025. At home, their momentum is very overwhelmed, but when they are on the road, they can’t stop it. The trend continued until the fourth week of the season, with Rajat Patidar’s team pushing them back to the top four in the standings for the fifth straight win. RCB comfortably knocked down the Punjab Kings with seven wickets, chasing 158 small targets on Sunday in just 18.5 goals in Mullanpur.
The contrast between their home and their appearance is shocking. Just two days ago, they suffered a heavy defeat at the same Punjab Kings team M Chinnaswamy Stadium. They struggled on the bats with only 95 runs and at some point, it seems that on Friday, April 18, they might be bowling at a rate below 50.
But leaving home, RCB found their grooves with bats at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, thanks in large part to Virat Kohli, who led them through another successful chase. Devdutt Padikkal also stepped up his efforts to take charge in the power after the explosive opener Phil Salt was fired in the first match of Arshdeep Singh.
Padikkal seems to have a better grasp of T20 cricket this season, playing a key role in his first IPL fifty times in three years. The stylish lefty scored four sixes and five boundaries in his impressive 35-ball 61.
