Irregular compensation under the scanner between forests

Nellol: During the review of critical irrigation projects in Chittoor and Annamayya areas, explosive revelations of violations of environmental removal and land acquisition were exposed. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu was hit hard in the lapses of the previous government, especially against the former forest minister when he inspected the lining of the Handri-Neeva canal on Friday.
Despite holding the forest portfolio, the smallest person at the time was said to have continued to carry out large-scale project work without obtaining mandatory environmental cleanup. “The National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a fine of Rs 100 crore on these violations, of which only Rs 25 crore were paid, and so was the government funding,” Ramanaidu revealed.
“No Rs is from those who are personally responsible,” he said.
Also regarding land acquisition, displaced families were reportedly deported without compensation. “Forgot to have fair recovery – the compensation was not even abandoned, but was forcibly taken away from the land.”
The minister’s remarks were reported on serious implementation and fund allocation differences following the ongoing vigilance investigation of the Avulapalli and Nethiguntapalli reservoir projects. “Now every violation is on the surface and we will not hesitate to take strict legal action based on the vigilant report.”
