Minister of Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said Saturday that the Congressional government is committed to completing the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project (SRLIP) and the Sitamma Sagar Multifunctional Project (SSMPP) as both projects are in line with the key to irrigation and development in southern Telangana, both of which form the key to irrigation and development.

The minister chaired a high-level review meeting, with the participation of Deputy Chief Minister Malu Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, three praises from the Khammam United District, as well as senior officials from the irrigation department. Former Yellandu MLA Gummadi Narsaiah also attended the meeting to specifically invite you to raise your local concerns.

Speaking to officials, Uttam Reddy said the completion of the two long-standing projects will enable the government to provide nearly 7.8 million acres of irrigation facilities across Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Mahabubabad areas. He recalled that the last government did not even distribute water to the Sita Rama project.

However, the Congressional administration convinced the Center and the Central Water Commission (CWC) to allocate 67 TMCFT of Godavari River water to the project. The engineer gave a detailed introduction to the status of the work and the outstanding issues. They noted that 97% of the main canal works of SRLIP were completed and that wet methods in three major pump rooms have been successfully performed.

The fourth pump room for the project is underway and is expected to be completed soon. The Palair Link Canal, Sathupalli Trunk Canal and Enkoor Link Canal works are at various stages of progress, with some of the bottlenecks remaining, especially related to land acquisition, forest gaps and structures near tunnels.

“We will not be able to withstand more delays, and despite some restrictions, you are expected to go full speed because it is the working season,” he told the engineer. He hopes that the authorities will speed up land acquisition in all segments, and issues related to compensatory afforestation must be resolved without further delays.

In addition, he asked the engineer to prepare a note for priority payments from the contractor and other stakeholders in order to submit the matter to the finance department.

The minister said on Sitamma Sagar that the government is taking steps to ensure that it is ensured in the environment and forest cleaning offices. He noted that some of the books were not approved earlier, and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) sentenced a fine of Rs 5,341 crore. “We are preparing a legal strategy to remove the fine,” he said.

He responded positively to Mr. Gummadi Narsaiah’s appeal to Yellandu by asking the authorities to study the proposal and resume the retreat.
