U.S. Senators set the longest record of Congressional speeches, which are more than one day in a row | World News

New York: The Senate lasted more than 25 hours to President Donald Trump, Democratic senators set the record for the longest speech in Congress. Senator Corey Booker began his speech Monday night and concluded Tuesday night, standing on a podium without even resting in the bathroom, showing extraordinary endurance.

He used Senate rule to allow senators to speak under restrictions from time to time to violate Trump’s policies and build his image. He failed to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 and eventually endorsed former President Joe Biden. The Democrat stepped in and asked him the questions allowed by the rules so that he could breathe.

He broke the record set by 1957 by Strom Thurmond, a racist in 1957, and held 24 hours and 18 minutes in a Senate lawsuit to prevent the passage of the Civil Rights Act, which guarantees Americans’ right to vote. The Senate passed the historic civil rights law a few hours after Thurmond’s speech, which President Dwight Eisenhower signed into law.

When he gave a marathon speech, Thurmond was a Democrat, with parties at the time supporting racist policies such as the segregation of African Americans in the South and then turning to progress. Thurmond switched to the Republican Party in 1964, and by then both parties changed their policies.

Booker said of Thurmond, “It’s wrong to hate him,” adding, “I’m not here despite his speech. I’m here despite his speech. I’m here because he’s as strong as he and the people are stronger.”

Several points in his speech quoted civil rights leader John Lewis, who repeated his words: “In trouble, the necessary trouble and help redeem the soul of America.” Unlike Thurmond, Booker did not try to delay legislation, but only showed opposition to Trump.

Booker is a 55-year-old athletic, American football champion who earns his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Standford University. He received a Rhodes scholarship, studied at Oxford, and received a law degree from Yale University.

Senators representing New Jersey criticized Trump, asking Americans that they still performed better 72 days before Trump took office. He said the prices are higher now, and the stock market for many Americans’ retirement funds has declined and consumer confidence is lower.

Instead of guaranteeing election commitments to lower prices, Trump has complied with policies such as raising tariffs, which would only make prices higher, while attacking Canada and talking about taking over Greenland.
