Is the traffic distress in Delhi-NCR over? Noida

Noida is advancing plans along the second expressway along the River Yamuna after Noida authorities approved the project at a recent board meeting.
The roads in India have been greatly improved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. One major project is the Noida Expressway. After a recent meeting, Noida authorities approved plans for the Second Expressway along the Yamuna River. According to a report by the Times of India, the new highway is aimed at reducing congestion in the existing Noida Expressway, which has been overloaded due to rapid growth in urban growth.
The proposed highway will serve as a bypass between Noida and Greater Noida and two possible designs are considered:
1. Ground eight-lane expressway
2. Elevated, six-lane road
The final design will be determined based on feasibility studies and expected transportation needs, especially as Noida International Airport will open later this year.
To oversee the project, Noida hopes to involve the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), which will obtain sufficient funding by designating the highway as a national highway. If NHAI opt out, authorities in the Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas may form a special purpose tool (SPV) to perform the project.
Traffic surges on the Noida Expressway due to the expansion of residential, commercial and industrial developments, causing severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. Without intervention, the expressway may face a deadlock similar to the Delhi-Gururam Expressway. As the region continues to grow, especially with the development of airports in particular, traffic volume is expected to rise further.
Before construction begins, the Noida government will conduct feasibility assessments and traffic studies to finalize the design of the expressway. After these studies are completed, detailed project reports will be prepared.
Once completed, the second expressway will reduce traffic congestion, enhance connectivity and support future growth, especially near Jewar Airport. This new route will simplify travel between Noida and Greater Noida, making transportation faster and more efficient.
