A software professional in Bengaluru has filed a police complaint with his wife, accusing her of physical and mental harassment and accusing her of trying to kill him by attacking his private parts.

Complaint Srikanth claimed that his wife and her parents had tortured him mentally and physically for his money.

He claimed he was unemployed while working at home due to frequent debates and interruptions caused by his wife. “During the video call, she even danced in front of the laptop,” he said in the complaint.

Srikanth further claimed that when he asked for divorce, his wife demanded Rs 4.5 lakh as compensation granted to her consent.

He also claimed that despite being married since August 2022, the couple did not live together in harmony and their marriage was not over.

Srikanth, in the complaint, accused his wife of blackmailing him, threatening to write a death note and commit suicide if he tries to approach her.

He claimed she had physically beat him up and even tried to kill him by attacking his private parts.

He also accused his wife’s family of demanding substantial funds to buy a house. When he refused, he claimed that the harassment had intensified.

Police asked his wife and reportedly said she didn’t want to live with him because of lack of compatibility.

There are growing concerns over several cases of marital discord and harassment. On January 28, a man named Peter was reportedly killed in Hubballi, Karnataka, allegedly due to harassment by his wife.

His family claimed he left a note saying he could no longer bear the torture.

In another incident, a husband caught fire in front of his wife’s residence, after failing to convince her to withdraw her divorce petition in the Nagarbhavi district of Bangalore.

Bengaluru technician Atul Subhash died in suicide after his wife Nikita Singhania allegedly demanded Rs 3 crore as a divorce settlement.
