ISRO chief Narayanan seeks blessings at Tirumala Shrine ahead of PSLV-C61 launch

tirupati: ISRO Chairman V Narayanan prayed at the Venkateswara Temple on Friday to successfully launch the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C61/EOS-09 Mission, a remotely-aware satellite mission.

The release was originally scheduled for May 18 at 5.59 am in the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. During the VIP Darshan in the early hours of Friday, Narayanan attended the ceremony and placed a miniature model of the PSLV-C61 at the feet of the deity, seeking blessings for the success and safety of the mission.

Vedic scholars provided blessings on Ranganayakula Mandapam, while Temple officials showed them to Tirtha Prasadam (Holy Water) and paid tribute to Narayanan with silk shawls.

“The 101st mission with the PSLV-C61 will mark a major milestone for ISRO, demonstrating India’s all-weather earth observation capabilities and strengthening the country’s commitment to space-based solutions,” Narayanan told reporters.

The mission will place the Earth’s observation satellite into the Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO), a unique polar orbit that maintains alignment with the Sun.

The PSLV-C61 marks the 63rd flight of the Polar satellite launcher and the 27th flight using the PSLV-XL configuration. According to the ISRO website, the mission continues the record of PSLV providing reliable performance on a variety of payloads and tracks.

As stated in ISRO, EOS-09 is designed to provide consistent and reliable remote sensing data for a range of operational applications across various departments.
