Paradami police arrested a 42-year-old farmer on Tuesday for possessing a barreled country gun.
According to police, a special police team searched a special police team in Ramamalai Village near Vellore on the border of Tamil Nadu-Andhra.
After more than two hours of searching, the team found the gun from the rice fields behind his home. Gunpowder and other explosives were also found. A case against a farmer registration, he was taken to the Central Prison in Velor.
The initial inquiry showed that he purchased guns from Kerala years ago to protect his crops from animals, especially wild boars, as the village is near the reserve forest.
