Italian newspaper IL Foglio makes history, publishing the world’s first AI-generated version

Italian newspaper Il Foglio became the first to release a version that was made entirely by artificial intelligence (AI).
According to a report from The Guardian, conservative liberal daily Il Foglio is conducting a month of experiments to explore the impact of AI technology on news life and work.
According to the report, the four-page wide-panel version of the report is available on newsstands and online.
“This will be the first daily newspaper in the world to be created entirely with artificial intelligence,” said Claudio Cerasa, the newspaper’s editor. “For all content. For writing, headlines, quotes, summary, sometimes even ironic.”
The role of journalists is limited to “asking questions” [into an AI tool] and read the answers,” he added.
The first edition of IL Foglio tells the story of U.S. President Donald Trump, whose column titled “Putin, 10 Betrayals, and stories about the Italian economy.
The last page brings an AI-generated letter to the editor, asking whether AI will make people “useless”.
“AI is a great innovation, but it’s not yet known how to order coffee without getting sugar wrong,” said the AI-generated reaction.
These articles are simple, clear, and have no grammatical errors, but no articles directly quote any human beings.
Claudio Cerasa said Il Foglio reflects a real newspaper and is the product of “news, debates and provocations.” “This is just another [Il] Foglio is made of wisdom, don’t call it artificial. ” he said.
