It’s hard to lose a close game

Jaipur: Rajasthan Royals’ spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule admitted losing two close matches on the team, but asserted that there was no feeling of “panic” in the camp.

Royals ran twice on Saturday night to the Lucknow Super Giants, losing to the Delhi Capitals in the super game.

With only two wins on eight outings, Rajasthan found itself in the eighth spot on the standings.

“We’ve been playing cricket. It’s just that it didn’t go.

He added: “But unfortunately, I lost two games in this and the last one, which was hard for us, but that’s how the game went. The T20 is a format that involves a lot of risks.”

Bahutule said they have been trying to minimize mistakes on the field.

“You made a lot of mistakes and our efforts were to minimize those mistakes. When we formed a partnership, we could have completed a few eliminations. But Avesh played good games again in 18 and 20 points.”

The former Indian spinner said RR missed the appearance of Captain Sanju Samson, who quit due to injury.

He said: “Obviously, we missed Sanju. I think they will evaluate his situation and let us know.

“I just think he’s a great kid with a really good head on his shoulders. I think his game is close to 360 degrees. He’s brave.

“The approach of that era was also very dominant, and he wanted to play shorts. He didn’t really feel like he was fighting a particular bowler. His theory was to look at the ball and hit the ball.”

Bahutule supports Sandeep Sharma, although the pacemaker leaked 27 times in the final, which gave LSG the upper hand in the final calculation.

“Sandep is a fabulous bowler. He always bowls. In the last game, he also played 2 goals with very few runnings, 5 and 7 running.

“We forgot about those important balls, and we’ve been emphasizing that he hasn’t played bowling yet. But I think he’s 100% giver for us and the team supports him.”
