Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh opposition leader and YSRCP head YS Jagan Mohan Reddy plans to visit relatives of victims of the collapse of Simhachalam Temple Wallapse on Wednesday. Seven people were submerged to death in the early hours of Wednesday, when the rain-soaked wall collapsed at Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Simhachalam near Visakhapatnam.

“He (Reddy) plans to arrive at Visakhapatnam around 3 p.m. and meet with the families of the deceased to show his heartfelt sympathy,” a YSRCP source told PTI.

Reddy expressed deep shock and sorrow for the devotionist’s tragic death during the celebration. The idols of Simhachalam Temple are covered with sandalwood paste throughout the year and are revealed only once a year, which is a celebration of Chandanotsavam.

Reddy called it a heartbreaking event, saying that devotees who witnessed the divine form of Jehovah must die in this tragic way.

The former CM urged the government to ensure the best medical treatment for those injured in the accident.

He also called on authorities to expand all necessary support and assistance to the families of the deceased.

The Simhachalam Temple disaster took the lives of six devotees against the backdrop of stampedeship in Tirupati Temple in January.
