Jaishankar: India has the longest coastline in the Bay of Bengal

“India’s special responsibility for Bimstec is expressed. After all, we have the longest coastline in the Bay of Bengal, nearly 6,500 kilometers,” Jaishankar said at the sixth Bimstec summit in Thailand on Thursday.

He further stated: “India not only shares borders with five BIMSTEC members, but also connects most of them, but also provides many interfaces between the Indian subcontinent and ASEAN.”

“The Trilateral Expressway connecting the Northeast to the Pacific Ocean”

Speaking about the Northeast, the Foreign Secretary said: “Our Northeast is especially becoming the connection center for Bimstec and has countless networks of roads, railways, waterways, grids and pipelines.”

He added: “In addition, the completion of the Trilateral Expressway will connect India’s northeast with the more veritable game changer Pacific.”

Jaishankar did not stop. He wrote on the social media platform on X: “The countries around and the countries in the Bay of Bengal have a common interest and common concern.”

He also wrote: “Our Northeast region is especially the connection hub of Bimstec. The IMT Trilateral Highway will connect India’s northeast with the Pacific.”

“Without naming Bangladesh and China,” he said, “the era of power to underwrite the international system is now behind us.” What we do with our prospects depends largely on ourselves. This is done better between each other than individually due to developing countries facing many challenges. ”

Jaishankar said the Bimstec country needs more cooperation to advance growth. He said: “The results are for all of us to see today.
