Myanmar earthquake: Fresh 5.1 tremor hits Naypyidaw Day after deadly earthquake | World News

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), a 5.1 shock earthquake struck Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar on Saturday.

The earthquake was 10 kilometers deep at 2:50 pm. The extent of damage and casualties is not yet known.

The fresh tremor is as authorities struggle to restore roads, while electricity, telephone and internet services are still declining in most parts of the city.

At least 1,002 people died, including 2,376 injured in the earthquake, hit Myanmar, the information team of the state government committee reported on Saturday. 30 people are still missing.

According to Ians, the earthquake caused widespread damage to Mandalay, Bago, Glacier, Northeast Shanzhou, Sagan and Naibitian.

The Myanmar government has declared a national emergency as rescue teams continue to continue relief efforts in the worst-affected areas.
