U.S. Vice President JD Vance arrived in India on Monday. As India and the United States continue to discuss bilateral trade agreements, his journey was a discussion of lowering tariffs and improving the scope of market access between the two countries. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed the U.S. Vice President and his family at Param Air Force Base in Delhi. Later in the evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a dinner for the guest VIP after detailed talks. The Indian delegation will include Foreign Minister Jaishankar, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Foreign Minister Vikram Misri and Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
In Delhi, the Vance family lives at ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel, a luxury hotel that regularly hosts world leaders and guests of VIPs. Located on Sardar Patel Marg in Delhi, ITC Maurya Sheraton has 411 rooms and 26 suites as well as award-winning restaurants Bukhara, Dum Pukht and Avartana. It is reported that the cost of staying for one night is over Rs 8 lakh.
The family will travel to Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Monday night, with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade to be welcomed. Their accommodation in Jaipur will be the iconic Rambagh Palace, the former royal residence of the Taj Mahal Hotel. According to Peppermint, it costs up to Rs 1.6 lakh to spend the night in this luxurious suite. The palace’s dining room, especially the gilded interiors and retro portraits of Suvarna Mahal, evokes the sense of time in the Rajput and Mughal eras.
During his stay in Jaipur, Vances will visit the historic Amer Fort on Tuesday, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, Vice President Vance will give a speech at the Rajasthan International Centre.
On Wednesday, the family will visit the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, an open-air market known for displaying Indian handicrafts. They are expected to return to Jaipur the same night.
The Vice President and his family will end their India tour on April 24, heading to the United States from Jaipur.
