Kerala’s Muslim organization Lok Sabha’s WAQF Bill’s Flay by

The Muslim organizations in Kerala and political parties such as the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) opposed the passage of the WAQF (Amendment) bill in Lok Sabha.
IUML President Panakkad Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal and the party’s state secretary-general PK Kunhalikutty said on Thursday (April 3, 2025) that the legal challenges will be met.
They claim to be usurping the WAQF property “indirect attempt”. This indicates that the property of other communities will also be deprived in the future. Discussions were held with Congress on this issue. They said the Munambam land dispute had nothing to do with the bill.
However, MK Muneer, IUML MLA, told the media that the Munambam problem will be “more complicated now”. He claimed that those living in Munhambam would be adversely affected by the passage of the bill.
Mr Muner noted that the production of more documents related to land ownership could lead to legal entanglement. He suggested that both Christian and Muslim communities should hold talks to address the issue.
“Anti-Constitutional Act”
He said that, with the support of the BJP’s numerical strength there, the parliament passed an “anti-constitutional bill.”
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly said the bill would be implemented at all costs and was put on hold simply because of opposition raised by certain groups,” he said.
Mr Munar said Parliament passed an example of the bill being cancelled by the court.

Syed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, president of the Sunni Scholar Forum, said Muslims in the country are concerned about the bill.
“Some people try to reap political dividends by spreading hatred. This will undermine religious harmony in society and endanger the constitution,” he said.
Sunni scholar and leader of Samastha’s “AP faction” Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliar said the bill would “take away the rights of minorities and destroy the secular and diverse values of the country”.
He added that the bill was intended to establish discrimination and cause injustice among various religious groups.
“Genocide Attack”
Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Amir P. Mujeeb Rahman calls the BJP-led government “genocide attack” bill against Indian Muslims. He said he tried to “eliminate the identity of Muslims” by undermining its cultural and economic identity.
Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen President TP Abdullakoya Madani urged the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Kerala’s United Democratic Front (UDF) to fight the bill.
