Massive protests against Nizamabad’s WAQF bill

Nizamabad: Under the banner of the Nizamabad Muslim Private Law Commission, hundreds of protesters traveled from Malapally to Quilla on Sunday from Malapally to Quilla and condemned the centre’s newly introduced WAQF amendment on Sunday. Government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Urdu College State Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan and senior leader Ma Quddus joined the rally, accusing the bill of undermining Muslims’ control over WAQF property.
Citing support from MP Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Shabbir announced: “We will compete against the WAQF Amendment under the law and welcome the Supreme Court’s move to review the legislation, which he said violated Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
Regional police deployed other personnel along the route, and the demonstrations ended peacefully (with a spirited slogan and strong youth participation).
