J&K Cabinet seeks a special meeting today, a full-party meeting

Srinagar:Amid the deadly terrorist attacks in Baisaran (Pahalgam) on Tuesday, the ministerial meeting led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah decided to recommend Governor Manoj Sinha to convene a special meeting of Jammu and Kashmir’s legislative rally.

After the emergency meeting, the Cabinet recommended that the special meeting be held at 10:30 am on April 28 in Chamu.

The “critical” meeting held in Chamu on Wednesday night decided that while security is not the direct responsibility of the elected government, the Council of Ministers should coordinate closely with the governor’s government to ensure the lives and safety of every citizen, especially tourists, especially residents of vulnerable areas.

It attracts all communities, religious leaders, civil society and political parties to “maintain peace and immediately calm with the forces seeking to divide and destabilize our region”.

The Reverend Committee reiterates that such timid violence will not be shaken by such timid violence, and therefore, the Ministers urged every resident to remain united, alert and resilient and “let us reject fear and division and reaffirm our commitment to peace, solidarity, and timely harmony and common Rooney and common resilience to define our land”.

The Council of Ministers expressed deep sorrow and anger at the tragic loss of innocent lives and the hurts civilians suffered in this “barbaric and cowardly act” and explicitly condemned this “meaningless act of terror”, which constituted a direct attack on the values of peace, unity and democracy and was subject to democratic values of Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir. ”

It said the government firmly united with the families of the victims and reiterated its firm commitment to ensure justice, strengthen security and maintain the tenacious spirit of brotherhood and define the resilience of J&K. It stressed the Government’s strong determination to support justice for the perpetrators of this terrible act and to take all the necessary steps to safeguard the lives and freedoms of every citizen. As a sign of respect, two minutes of silence was observed during the meeting.

The Chief Minister also held a party-wide meeting at 3pm on Thursday at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, “to discuss the situation, express our shared condemnation of terrorist acts and to carry out intended acts of terror in ensuring peace, justice and resilience.”

In the same letter to leaders and representatives of various mainstream political parties, the Chief Minister said that he wrote to them in a heavy heart after the terrorist attack. “The life that was killed, the pain that caused to innocent citizens shocked us all,” the letter said. He added that it was not only a tragedy of a region or party, but also a wound to the souls of Jamu and Kashmir.

“In this gloomy time, I believe it is our collective duty – as a representative of the people and the guardian of democratic values - to unite regardless of our political affiliation.”

The letter further states: “I have not only expanded this invitation in my official capacity, but also as a friend and fellow countryman who shares your pain and concern with you. Let us unite – as a partner who serves us during this hour’s pain and resolution.”
