JK: Development activities are in full swing in Rajuri, where tensions with Pakistan are rising

Rajouri: Development activities are in the Rajouri districts of Jamu and Kashmir, especially in the Nowshera sub-region near the Line of Control (LOC). The border Panchayats is underway to carry out various infrastructure projects that bring much needed relief to local groups and improve connectivity. One of the most important projects is the construction of a large automobile bridge near the LOC, with an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore. Locals say the bridge has been a long-standing demand since 1947, and its completion will eventually connect multiple panchayats that have been in isolation due to the lack of direct routes. The bridge was built by the Border Road Organization (BRO) and is expected to significantly reduce travel distances and improve access to essential services.
“This bridge will change our lives,” said one local resident. “We used to go long distances and just reach the main road. Now the journey will be shorter and safer.”
Aside from the bridge, a new hospital is being built near the border, a key step in improving access to health care in the area. In the case of cross-border shelling in Pakistan, residents often strive to transport injured medical facilities to distant medical facilities. The new hospital is expected to address these challenges by providing timely medical assistance nearby.

In addition, during the tense times, bunkers are being built at the border to provide safety and shelter for residents. Road infrastructure projects are also in full swing, enhancing mobility and access to remote villages.

Locals expressed their gratitude to Jamu and Kashmir governments for their efforts. “The development of border areas has gained momentum since the current administration is in charge,” another resident said, highlighting improvements in road connectivity, health care and safety measures. With these ongoing projects, life in the Rajouri and Nowshera border areas will improve, bringing relief and hope to residents of the long-awaited initiative.
