J&K: Locals start returning to Sorotri village in Pornchi during tensions in India – Pakistan

The last village near the Line of Control (LOC) of Poonch Salotri ended the tense days between the two countries after displaced border residents began returning to their recent understanding between India and Pakistan on Friday.

The shelling affected areas along the control line of Jamu and Kashmir, causing significant damage to the losses of households and infrastructure as well as civilian lives.

The villagers thanked the government for their understanding between India and Pakistan.
Amjid Ali, a resident of Salotri Village, said: “We live here and we have seen something like this for the first time. The government provides everything for our security, but after witnessing the situation between the two countries, we are still afraid of all the security between the Indian army, and also provides all the security for us and takes care of us. The whole village left a hole in our situation. We returned to our village.

Another villager, Haji Juniet, urged the government to build bunkers there.

“About 400 people stayed here. When the fire started, people left the village. The government took care of us and heard about our problems. Today, we returned to our village. But there was a problem here, we had no bunkers here. The border of Pakistan was nearby. There was not enough bunkers here. I asked for a fortress here. But we lived here, and it was very difficult for those who remained in the border area. The hostilities following Operation Sandor were in response to the April 22 Pahargam terrorist attack, killing 26 people, including Nepali nationals.

Army Romeo Forces also interact with locals to understand their needs and provide assurance during an ongoing security situation.

The Indian armed forces responded firmly to the aggression, targeting several military posts across the border. Later, the two countries agreed to stop fire and military operations after the Director-General of Pakistan Military Operations (DGMO) contacted his Indian counterpart.

Operation Sindoor is India’s decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, resulting in more than 100 terrorists associated with horror costumes such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.

After the attack, Pakistan retaliated against cross-border artillery bombardment on Line of Control and cross-border Jamu and Kashmir and drone attacks along the border areas, followed by India launching coordinated attacks and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centers and airports between 11 air forces in Pakistan.

Thereafter, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced.
