A special team from the Coimbatore City Police Department arrested John Jebaraj, 37, a pastor at the King’s Church in Coimbatore, Kerala for alleged sexual assault on two underage girls.

A senior police officer said Jebaraj was arrested throughout about a week and was arrested in Idukki area of ​​Kerala on Saturday (12 April 2025). He was taken to Coimbatore early Sunday morning.

Jebaraj is accused of sexually assaulting two 17- and 14-year-old girls at his residence in Coimbatore on May 21, 2024.

According to police, a week ago a survivor filed a complaint against him at the All Women Police Department of Coimbatore Center, where he was booked in Section 9(l)(M) Section 9(l)(M) (serious sexual assault) and 10 (serious sexual assault punishment for sexual assault) for the protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) (POCSO).

In the absence of Jebaraj’s absconding, City Police Commissioner A. Saravana Sundar formed three special teams to follow in the Assistant Chief of Police Ganesh. Police also issued surveillance notices against him to prevent him from leaving the country.

Meanwhile, the police received reliable information that Jebaraj was hiding in Munnar. A special team led by inspector R. Arjun Kumar arrived at Munnar Saturday night and arrested him. He was taken to Coimbatore to remand. He was born before a judge and was remanded in judicial custody until April 25.

Jebaraj has a large following on social media platforms, and he is known for his Christian devotional songs and live performances. He has connections with the Christian ministry of Levini.
