John Versace is a young plumber who has nothing to do with organized crime. Then why did he shoot his doorstep?

Detectives are piecing together 23-year-old plumber and family man John Versace, who has no criminal connections, and are shot dead at the doorstep of his home in southwest Sydney.
On Tuesday, police described how Mr. Versace returned to his home on Dalton Avenue in Condell Park at 10 p.m. the night before, where he lived with his parents and adult sisters, only a pile of bullets ambushed.
Police said CCTV from the attached cameras of the home showed the gunman firing, a gun-style weapon that made Mr Versace carry at least four gunshot wounds – then retreated to the hatchback Toyota Corolla and escaped from the scene.
Shortly thereafter, an official caught fire in Fairfield Heights, about 11 kilometers from Versace’s house.
Once the flames were extinguished, a pistol was recovered from the car that police believed was the killing of Mr. Versace.
The shooting is a sign of targeted gang hits, Sheriff Rodney Hart told reporters Tuesday, but Mr Versace only had his name for traffic crimes — no crime past or known organized crime relationships.
Hart added that his family also had no criminal record.
One line of questioning is whether the shooting was a wrong identity.

The Versace family appears to be orthodox Christians, and recently celebrated the luxurious wedding of Versace’s sister Bianca.
They lived in the large two-story building in Condell Park for more than a decade.
John’s social media account displays both Lebanese and Italian flags, suggesting a mix of heritage.
Police said he worked as a plumber in his father’s business.
Mr Versace’s sister Deanna Versace paid emotional tribute to her brother on Tuesday.
“John, there is no word to describe all of us suffering and will continue to suffer for the rest of our lives,” she wrote.
“You are the greatest brother, son, grandson, cousin and friend in the world. We are lucky to be with you, but your life is too short.
“You shouldn’t get this. You are now living in peace with Jesus. We love you John very much. An angel forever. This world is not good enough for you. Life will never be the same.
His other sister, Bianca, called Mr. Versace “our baby, our pride and joy, the most innocent boy in the world.”
‘I have nothing to say. This world should not get you. She wrote: “We will miss the smile that lights up every room, I love you so much, my angel.
