Neeraj Chopra won a commendable second place in the men’s javelin throwing competition in the 2025 Doha Diamond League on Friday, May 16, and scored an impressive 90.23 metres. However, he was eventually overshadowed by Germany’s Julian Weber, who surprised the audience with a final throw of 91.06 meters.
Chopra’s performance included the initial 88.4 meters and then made a powerless attempt in the second attempt. He then scored a record 90.23 meters in the third round but faced the challenge with a throw of 80.56 meters in the fourth round and was powerless on the fifth. He ended the race with a final attempt of 88.20 meters.
By contrast, Weber started his series with a throw of 82.83 meters, followed by 85.57 meters, 89.06 meters, 88.05 meters and 89.84 meters. As the game progressed, it seemed that the victory was within the control of Chopra until Weber scored an amazing final and secured the victory with exciting results.

Despite the narrow progress, Jena still cannot face serious challenges to podium finishes.
