Hyderabad: Tourism Secretary Jupally Krishna Rao held a major tourism stakeholder workshop at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) on Wednesday. Hyderabad: Registration has been opened for the 14th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon held on August 24. Early quotes will last until April 30, and if slots are filled, registration will be closed by May 31 or earlier.
Organized by the Hyderabad Runners Society, the event is one of India’s largest urban marathons, attracting runners from all over India and beyond.
This year’s event will begin with a two-day sports fair from August 22 to 23. The 5K running will be held on August 23, followed by the 10k, half marathon and full marathon on August 24. Hyderabad runners say they are committed to promoting fitness and community bonds through the activity.
They also applied for the prestigious World Track and Field Tag and Athletics tag and received support from Indian track and field while awaiting final approval.

Solve LRS issues: MA and UD
Hyderabad: MA&UD Chief Secretary M. Dana Kishore has directed regional collectors and municipal commissioners to complete the process of resolving the Layout Regular Plan (LRS) application at the end of the month. He noted that some areas have issued fewer lawsuits and asked them to improve their progress. He also discussed strategies for performing better areas to follow.
During a video conference, Dana Kishore, together with DTCP Devender Reddy, reviewed the status of the LRS process. The meeting was attended by regional collectors, local agencies, municipal commissioners and other collectors of town planning officials.
Kishore stressed that lawsuits should be filed quickly with all applicants who pay LRS fees. He noted that verification of layouts is moving slowly compared to open plots and requires officials to focus more on layout verification and batch applications.
To raise awareness of the benefits of LRS, he advises collectors to use printing, electronic and social media, as well as Flex banners for promotional activities. He also directed officials to contact applicants who have not paid the fee and reminded them to complete the payment by April 30, 2025.
Dirty water supply stops in putlibowli
Hyderabad: He said it stopped supply of contaminated water in Putlibowli after residents filed a complaint about dirty water passing through the faucet. Officials noticed a leak in the main water pipe and said they had repaired it within three days.
Water pollution is caused by damage to the 350mm pipe near the drain pipes of Putlibowli Crossroad. Due to damage, dirty water in the drain pipe is mixed with the drinking water supply. Officials deployed a contamination identification machine and camera to detect damaged parts of the pipeline. When the damaged part was found, officials repaired it and restored the restored water supply to the area.
