Kancha Gachibowli seems to have all the characteristics of a forest: CEC

Hyderabad: The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) constituted by the Supreme Court, in its interim report said prima facie, the entire area to the extent of acres 2374-02 guntas, of Kancha Gachibowli village, recorded as “Kancha Astabal Poramboke Sarkari” and assigned to the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) of which subject land is a part, appear to have all characteristics of forests.
However, committee chairman Siddhanta Das said the final recommendation can only be submitted after the Indian forest survey completes its density assessment.
Additionally, the CEC has not received several documents and information from different officials in the state. Therefore, in order to submit a final report, in particular the proposals regarding deforestation and the remaining portions of the land constitute the forest area, and to identify officials who have not fulfilled their duties, it is respectfully proposed that four weeks may be awarded to the CEC.
