Kangana Ranaut’s last film, Emergency, may be impressed at the box office. But her director and beginner found listeners on OTT. The movie ranked the highest since last week when the emergency premiered on Netflix. Many netizens stood up and praised the film, especially the performance of Cangana.

Kangana retweeted the reaction of her followers on her X and even Instagram. An internet user said that an emergency should win an Oscar. Kangana’s reply made headlines as she continued to call the Academy Awards “stupid.” User wrote: “#Emergencennnetflix should go to the Academy Awards in India. Cangana, it’s a movie.” The award-winning actress replied: “But the United States doesn’t want to admit its true face, how they bully, suppress and reverse partisan developing countries. It has been exposed in #Ergrenceency. They can keep the stupid Oscars. We’ve won the national award.”

Even filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has moved forward, praising Kangana’s efforts. Sanjay tweeted on his X: “I watched the @kanganateam emergency today. Very frankly, I wasn’t going to be in my bondage. I’m glad I was wrong.

Kangana noticed the appreciation from Kaante director, and she replied, “Film industry must come out of its hate and prejudices and acknowledge good work, thanks for breaking that barrier Sanjay ji, the barriers of preconceived notions, my message to all filmi intelligences, never keep any notions about me, mujhe samajhne ki koshish bhi mat karna, main pahunch se bahar hoon.”

For the unproven, the emergency is based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film also stars an outstanding cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and the late Satish Kaushik in his final performance. After several delays, the film was released in cinemas on January 1, 2025. But the film was a drama that failed and earned Rs 20 crore worldwide.
