IPL: “National sentiment” will determine the restart of the Indian Premier League, Deep Dasgupta says

However, Dasgupta, speaking from Lucknow, will comment on Friday’s match between Lucknow Super Giant and Royal Challenger Bengaluru, believes the match will be unlikely to resume if players overseas are missing.
It is understood that most of England’s 10 players are leaving India, and the participating Australians may also leave. Players from the West Indies remain in India.
If a short-term restart is not possible, the competition will be completed later this year due to its financial value.
A $60.2 billion rights agreement for the IPL match was signed in 2022 and in a statement confirming the suspension, India’s Cricket Control Board thanked broadcaster Jiostar for support in the decision.
If the rest of the IPL is rescheduled later this year, the England and Wales Cricket Council will be concerned about clashes with a hundred, but is more likely to be in the window in September.
That month was originally awarded for the Asian Cup, and although the match between India and Pakistan is unlikely to happen now, the match could be cancelled and replaced by the remaining IPL.
In a global event, future matches between India and Pakistan will have long-term questions, Dasgupta said he “can’t even think about” the fixtures between the two countries.
“It’s very insensitive to even talk about it now,” he said. “Maybe in the future date. We’ll see it. So far, India-Pakistan cricket is too trivial to talk about.”
Even before the latest deterioration in relations between the two countries, their cricket teams were just playing against each other in multi-ethnic games.
Earlier this year, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the championship trophy, prompting the International Cricket Commission (ICC) to announce that any matches involving two teams in global events held by the two countries will be held at neutral venues.
The next situation like this will be the Women’s World Cup in October hosted by India. Pakistan qualified earlier this month and will therefore be located in another country.
However, there is uncertainty now whether the match can be made between the two regardless of the venue. It is understood that the ICC believes it is too early to consider a solution.
On Friday, as announced on Thursday, the rest of the Pakistan Premier League was postponed indefinitely, rather than ending in the United Arab Emirates.
