The state government intends to hold a large celebration in October to mark the 50th anniversary of Anganwadis in Karnataka.
“We have had a round of discussions with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The Union Minister of Women and Child Development will also be invited. We intend to invite 10,000 Anganwadi workers to the program,” said Laxmi Hebbalkar, Minister of Women’s Development, during a review of the Integrated Children’s Development Services (ICDS) Program (ICDS) on Monday.
The minister urged officials and Anganwadi workers to work effectively, saying that the state government has increased the remuneration of Anganwadi workers and assistants by Rs 1,000 and the centre has recognized that 3,800 Mini Anganwadi centres in Karnataka are the highest in the country.
“This is because the state convinced the center to recognize the need for the mini Anganwadi center. The committee led by retired judge Venugopal Gowda also praised the department’s work,” she said.
Ms. Hebbalkar directed the officials to focus on starting pre-school (LKG and UKG), saying: “The department has become a prestige class that opens pre-school classes. The opening of LKG and UKG courses will help the department survive.”
The meeting reviewed the start of the pre-season, appointing Anganwadi workers and assistants, allocating and releasing grants to ICD, etc.
