The state government will purchase about 7 million tons of rice fields in this rabies (2024-25) season, including exquisite varieties, and an additional support per punch is 500 rupees in the estimated 127.5 million tons of bonus.

This is because during the Kharif season, an estimated 15.35 million tons of production were purchased, and approximately 6.67 million tons were purchased during the Kharif season. Paddy was planted on 6.549 million acres of land in Kharif, and on nearly 5.873 million acres of land this rabbi season.

The minister, reviewing arrangements for the procurement of rabies Paddy, said that it is estimated that around 2.81 million tons are produced during the two crop seasons of 2024-25, and Telangana has become the highest rice field production state in the country.

Mr Uttam Reddy spoke to regional collectors via video conference, warning officials to remain alert as several areas reported non-seasonal rainfall. He said such weather fluctuations could damage harvested or standing rice fields, even if they were not purchased quickly.

As of April 18, about 851,000 tons of rice fields had been purchased and reached the procurement center, of which 577,000 tons had been purchased. It includes 3.79 billion tons of exquisite varieties and 1.98 million tons of crude (doddu’) varieties. A total of 63,887 farmers benefited, and payments including bonuses are being processed.

The government has proposed to open 8,329 rice field procurement centers (PPCs), of which 7,337 have been opened. Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nalgonda and Siddipet regions have all PPC plans.
