Karnataka High Court on May 15th request for Fir

The Karnataka Superior Court adjourned Tuesday until Thursday, May 15, a petition hearing filed by singer Sonu Nigam, in which he registered his first information report (FIR) (FIR) registered with him in a complaint, allegedly he made a repulsive statement at an engineering concert in New York City when several of his listeners asked him to sing Kannada.

The petition of the Justice of Shivashankar Amarannavar, Mr. Nigam, was listed for hearing and was adjourned until Thursday, May 15 after accepting objections to the procedural statements in the petition documents on Thursday, May 15.

The FIR was registered by the Avalahalli police on May 3 for the offences under Sections 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352(1) (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 353 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the BNS based on a complaint lodged by Dharma Raj Ananthaiah, a Kannada activist.

Meanwhile, the singer clarified through video messages on social media that his remarks were in response to some unpleasant comments made repeatedly by some of the listeners who asked for a Kannada song after the first song at the concert. At the concert, he sang several Kannada songs.
