The Karnataka High Court on Friday rejected a petition by Bhavani Revanna to postpone trial in four rape cases against her son Prajwal Revanna until he had enough time to appoint a new defense attorney and prove a copy of certain documents and orders passed by the trial court.

Judge S. Vishwajith Shetty, who heard the petition, dismissed the petition, noting that the reason for the dismissal would follow.

How to say the petition

She complained in the petition that the meeting’s special court judge had made some adverse remarks against her son in the current criminal case, and that he had filed a request for the judge’s changes. Although the judges in the main city civil and conventions appeared to reject the judge's appeal, a copy of the order was not given to her or Prajwal.

Ms. Bavani also pointed out that instead of giving him enough time to appoint another defense counsel, the Special Court appointed the defense counsel of the Legal Service Authority.

Delay tactics

However, advocates representing CID opposed her defense, pointing out that Prajwal should file a petition, while also pointing out that actions such as the advocate's retirement from four rape cases are nothing more than strategies to delay litigation, as the trial is intended to start the trial with record statements of victims and other witnesses.
