Karnataka ‘Janivara’Row: Brahmins organize protests in Vijayabula

Members of various Brahmin associations held a protest in Vijayapura on Saturday against the Karnataka Examination Agency (KEA), and some students who allegedly appeared in Shivamogga and Bidar were asked to remove the “Janivara” or “Sacred Thread”.
Protesters condemned the actions alleged by KEA officials. Members of Akhil Bharat Brahmin Samaj Mahasangh gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s office to mark their protests.
They say the incidents are highly condemned and those who force students to delete them or walk out of the exam should face disciplinary action.
The organization’s leaders expressed concern about the incident, adding that it caused anxiety in the Brahmin community. “This harms the entire Brahmin community. Those who harm religious sentiments in this way should be suspended immediately,” they said.
