Stop drinking these 5 common drinks immediately to reduce your risk of diabetes
What people believe is that occasional drinking, especially wine or spirits, is seen as socially acceptable, and even heart health in certain conversations.
Fact: Many alcoholic beverages, especially cocktails, wines and liqueurs, contain hidden sugars and carbohydrates. Regular alcohol intake may also interfere with the liver’s ability to regulate blood sugar. Excessive alcohol can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, especially when used in combination with an unhealthy diet.
A better option: Moderate dry red wine may reduce the harm if needed. But for alternatives to non-alcoholic beverages, kombucha (unsweetened), herbal tea or soda with fruit slices can be refreshing.
