Karnataka tourists recall horrible moments

Bangalore: A vacation in Jamu and Anantnag in Kashmir to celebrate his son’s success in the exam was tragic for the family of Manjunath Rao, 47, a contractor and real estate agent in Shivamogga City, Karnataka. Rao was shot dead by militants in front of his wife Pallavi on Tuesday.
The family headed to Anantnag on April 19 to celebrate his son’s performance on the second pre-college exam, with the results announced a few days ago. The family will return on April 24.
Pallavi told Mediapersons via Pahalgam’s phone call that after the terrorists shot Rao, she also asked them to kill her and their son.
Pallavi, marketing cooperative manager of Birur Malnad Areca at Chikkamagaluru, told Deccan Chronicle She couldn’t speak on the phone.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in condemning the attacks and killing of tourists: “We are closely monitoring these developments. All necessary support will be expanded and the state government stands firmly with the affected people.”
Siddaramaiah said two teams (one senior official and another police officer) left Kashmir. The adventure team of the sports department, led by its specialist Chethan, is also heading to the location.
Shivamogga Lok Sabha members of Raghavendra visited the residence of Shivamogga Rao and comforted the dead family members.
