Ports to boost economic growth for AP: Minister

Vijayawada: Infrastructure Minister Janardhan Reddy of British Columbia said Andhra Pradesh’s extensive coastline and abundant natural resources will play an important role in the future economic development of the state.
The minister expressed this at a review meeting held on Thursday at the office of the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Commission (APMB) in Mangalagiri. The conference focused on advances in port and fishing port development, in addition to the operation of Andhra Pradesh Maritime Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Janardhan Reddy observed that the timely completion of the construction of ports and fishing ports would allow AP to effectively utilize its long coastal extension and natural resources. He stressed that the role of the harbor has become increasingly important to the economic growth of the state after the fork of Andhra Pradesh.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the progress of the three important ports developed in accordance with the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) model. He directed Maritime Commission officials to ensure they completed quickly. He also evaluated the development of four fishing ports in Phase 1 and the upcoming five low-cost fishing ports in Phase 2. Additionally, he asked about the progress of six fish landing centers.
Secretary (Investment and Infrastructure) N. Dr Yuvaraj, AP Maritime Board Chairman Damacharla Satya, Maritime Board CEO Praveen Aditya, Maritime Board Chief Engineer GV Raghava Rao and Fisheries Commissioner Ram Shankar Naik attended the meeting.
