Dr. Thomas Chandy, the leading orthopedic surgeon in Bangalore, passed away

Thomas Chandy, an orthopedic surgeon and chairman and managing director of Horsmatt Hospital, died at the age of 74 on Monday night after a long-term lung-related illness.
After more than two months of treatment, he died at 11.20 PM in a private hospital. Dr. Chandy has been widely reviewed in the city’s medical fraternity and is also known for his passion for music.
“Dr. Thomas Chandy has been suffering from interstitial lung disease and has undergone a lung transplant at Manipal Hospital on Hal Road. He breathed his last time at Manipal Hospital around 11.20pm on April 7,” a release from his family said.
He cheered from an ancient Bangalore family and received his medical education at St. John’s Medical College in 1973. After he received orthopedic training at St. John’s and St. Martha’s Hospital in Bangalore, he went to American higher education, where he also worked for several years, returned to Bangalore, returned to Bangalore and established the Hosmat Hospital in 1993.
Dr. Chandy is an avid musician and a passionate musical instrument collector with a personal collection of over 350 instruments from around the world. He is the leader and singer of the jazz and rock revival, a jazz band that celebrates 20 years.
