Kedarnath is open to devotees; over 12,000 grand ceremonies

The portal of the Himalayan temple Kedarnath opened on Friday (May 2, 2025), with more than 12,000 pilgrims attending the ceremony.
Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Council (BKTC) officials said the gates of the 11,000-foot-tall temple.
The Himalayan temple is decorated with 108 fifty varieties, including roses and marigolds, brought from different countries such as Nepal, Thailand, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
Among the four Char Dham temples that are also the 11th Jyotirlinga, there are the biggest devotees. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

This is the third temple on the Char Dham Tour that opened after winter break. The Gangotri and Yamunotri temples will open on April 30 and Badrinath will open on May 4, 2025.
BKTC Media Supervisor Harish Gaur said the process of opening the Kedarnath gate began at 5 a.m.
Rawal (Chief Priest) Bhimashankar Ling, priest Bagesh Ling, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, Rudraprayag's District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar, BKTC Chief Executive Officer Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, Tirtha priest Srinivas Posti, religious leaders and Vedpathis entered the temple from the east gate and participated in the worship of the gate.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the opening ceremony and after the gates opened, he was the first to perform a puja in the temple, praying for the well-being and prosperity of all.

The temple is visited annually by devotees from all over the country and abroad, and in winter, the temple remains closed.
BKTC CEO VIJAY THAPLIYAL said this time it was a pilgrimage to Kedarnath, which would be a huge “AARTI” for Ganga Aarti, Haridwar and Rishikesh in Varanasi.
