A long history Buffalo Trace Brewery Temporarily closed after fatality Floods destroy Kentucky Sweeping its facilities, forcing the popular Bourbon to reject the public and employees.
Kentucky-based Frankfort said in a statement released Sunday that it will last through April 10, but warned that the date may change.
“We cannot advise on the impact on our overall brewery footprint due to unprecedented rain and flooding,” Buffalo Trace said. “As facilities become safe, we will evaluate these realities in the coming days and make the necessary adjustments to the operations as needed.”
A spokesperson for Buffalo Trace declined to comment further.
Furious rainfall days in Kentucky and throughout the southern and midwest of the United States have caused catastrophic flooding and raised concerns that the damage could last for days as the rivers swell. In Frankfort, the Kentucky River is known to be spread throughout the capital.
On Monday, the river was on the top of Frankfort Lock, close to the record of 48 1/2 feet (14.78 meters) on December 10, 1978.
Buffalo Trace is far from the only distillery in Kentucky, home to the Bourbon Country, but it is the closest distillery to the bank of the Kentucky River. It is worth noting that the brewery has several high water marks in previous floods inside the Frankfurt building, the latest being the 1978 flood.
Buffalo Trace Distillery is an American, family-owned company that has been in operation for more than 200 years. Its products include the Holy Grail of Bourbon: Pappy Van Winkle At 23, you can sell it on the resale market for tens of thousands of dollars.
