Modisri Lanka visit in the afternoon: India and Sri Lanka exchanged several Mosses on Saturday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day island country visit. It was welcomed by the ceremony at the historic Independence Square in the heart of the Sri Lanka’s capital after the Prime Minister landed in Colombo after his visit to Thailand, perhaps the first such honor to foreign leaders.
President Dissanayake received the Prime Minister in the square – the location of the National Day celebrations and named it after the Independence Memorial to commemorate the independence of the island nation far from British rule in 1948.
In the presence of PM Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the two countries exchanged a total of seven Moor justice in the fields of defense, energy, digital infrastructure, health and trade.

India, the UAE and Sri Lanka also exchanged trilateral memorandums of understanding before the two leaders. This is the first visit of PM Modi as Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake served in office last year. The visit was also conducted after Dissanayake’s visit to India in December – his first state visit since he was in charge.

After the exchange of Moss, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to Sri Lanka President Dissanayake for winning the Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Award and called the “history” between New Delhi and Colombo “history”.
“…Today, the award was won by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake by Sri Lanka Mitra – this is not an honor to me. It is an honor to me for 100 million Indians. It shows the historical relationship and deep friendship between the people of Sri Lanka and the Indian people.

The Prime Minister said the bilateral debt restructuring agreement exchanged between the two countries will immediately help the Sri Lankan people.
“In the past six months, we have converted over $100 million in loans into grants. Our bilateral debt restructuring agreement will be a direct help to the people of Sri Lankan. Today, we have also decided to lower interest rates. It shows that even today, India and the people of Sri Lankan are relying on 2.4 lankan of Shear of Hearan.
In his speech, Prime Minister Modi said that in several issues, he discussed the fishermen’s issues and agreed to a humanitarian approach. “I am very happy to share that the relics found in Aravalli, my hometown of Gujarat are being sent to Sri Lanka for Darshan to set out… We discussed the fishermen’s issue, we agreed to the humanitarian approach. We should release them quickly and give them the boat. We also discussed reconciliation,” he said.
The talks and the exchange of MOU were the day after Modi arrived in the capital of Sri Lanka on the day after he finished his trip to Bangkok, where he participated in the summit of Bimstec (Bay of Bengal Multi-Section Technology and Economic Cooperation Initiative).
