On April 8, 2025, President Donald Trump spoke about his administration’s tariff policy at a dinner hosted by the National Republican Congress Committee (NRCC). He paused his speech and invited three former hostages to the stage. One of the hostages released, Keith Siegel expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am here, I am still alive. President Trump, you saved my life. You put in the effort and saved 33 lives.”
