The Dawoodi Bohra community delegation thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enacting the WAQF (Amendment) bill on Thursday (17 April 2025), noting that it was their long-term need to stand by.

A delegation of business leaders, professionals, doctors, educators and various outstanding representatives met with Mr. Modi at his official residence. The Prime Minister recalled his strong connection with the community and spoke about the years of work that had been building the bill.

“He talked about the difficulties people faced by WAQF and said that one of the main drivers that brought this behavior was that most patients in the general system were women, especially widows,” a press release said.

Mr. Modi praised the community’s tradition of working for social welfare, which he has witnessed over the years. He highlighted the community’s special contribution to achieving this behavior. The Prime Minister said that when the legislation began working, one of the issues he discussed was Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, who had a detailed view of every aspect.

Community members share stories about how WAQF mistakenly demands the property of its community members. Speaking about the benefits of the bill, they said that the Prime Minister was made not only for minorities, but also for minorities within the minority. They said India has been allowing their identities to flourish and they said they felt “inclusive” under Mr. Modi’s leadership.

“Discuss the Prime Minister’s vision Viksit Bharat [Developed India] By 2047, they expressed their commitment and all possible help in their journey to develop India. “It added that the delegation praised several people-centered government initiatives, as well as support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
