He became the Chief of the NIA in 2024 and will continue to hold the position until December 31, 2026 or until further orders. He is currently in charge of the group, which was established due to the 2008 attacks and mainly involved in counter-terrorism.

At the time, Sadanand dated as an additional director of the Central Region Police Department. According to the 2023 report from the Indian Express, he knew of a fire in southern Mumbai and arrived there without delay. PTI said he became one of the first respondents to the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks by responding to the shooting.

When he arrived at Cama Hospital in southern Mumbai, he first rescued an elevator operator, Ajmal Kasab and Abu Ismail, the leader of a 10-person terrorist group that had been attacked in Mumbai in 2008.
