Kolkata hotel fire killed 15 people, including 2 children; Mamata PM Modi announces victim’s former Gratiya

Kolkata: At least 15 people, including two children, died and several were injured, and a fire broke out in a crowded six-story hotel in Burrabazar, a central business hub in Kolkata. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief, announcing that the former Gratia was 2 lakh and the injury was 50,000 rupees from PMNRF to the next relative of each deceased.
The State Government has announced a similar amount of ex-gratia to the families of the deceased and injured.”The incident happened around last night in the Rituraj hotel in Mechhua under Jorasanko Police Station. There are 15 casualties in the incident. We have checked the hotel. Many people were rescued from their rooms (around 5) and around 20 were above the room,” Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma said as he visited the site at midnight.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a X-handle post: “Dietly killed due to the unfortunate fire in Kolkata. Condolences to those who have lost loved ones. May the injury recover quickly. Recover quickly. Gratia from the first 2 billion rupees from PMNRF will be provided to each of the next dead.
