Kremlin spokesman: Ukrainian memorandum cannot set deadline

Russia’s news agency quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying that the process of developing a unified text for the peace and ceasefire memorandum would be complicated and therefore there would be no fixed deadline.

“There is no deadline, nor any deadline. It’s obvious that everyone wants to do this as soon as possible, but, of course, the devil is in the details.”

A Kremlin spokesman said: “The draft will be developed by various aspects of Russia and Ukraine, and these drafts will be exchanged and then – complex links to develop a single text.”
U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and leaders of the EU, France, Italy, Germany and Finland in an attempt to promote peace in the three-year-old war in Ukraine.

Trump said after the appeal that Russia and Ukraine would immediately begin ceasefire negotiations. Putin said Russia is “ready to cooperate with the Ukrainian side on a possible future peace agreement.”
