Simulation exercise time in Delhi today: full schedule, coverage area and expectations during emergency practices across the city

Delhi began large-scale civil defense simulation exercises at 55 locations across the city starting at 4pm on Wednesday. The exercise was directed by the central government and aimed at preparing for possible emergencies after tensions between citizens and authorities and Pakistan increased.
Officials said the exercise will simulate different hostile scenarios, including air strikes, outbreaks and search and rescue operations. In all 15 police stations, sirens were sounding and residents may notice increased police presence and activity in multiple areas.
The Ministry of the Interior has directed all states to conduct similar exercises in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attacks.

Delhi police on Tuesday strengthened safety by raising roadblocks at Connaught Place and major locations near Parliament.

They also bring remote acoustic devices (LRADS) that can transmit messages within a distance of up to one kilometer. These devices will aid in crowd control and emergency announcements. The attackers selected five key locations in each of Delhi's 11 income zones, including markets, schools, residential colonies, government offices and hospitals. The exercise involved approximately 2,000 civil defense volunteers and 1,200 trained disaster response workers, namely “AAPDA MITRAS.”

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Delhi was well prepared and all actions were taken in accordance with the central government guidelines.

Officials confirmed that the simulation exercise will continue over the next two weeks and will cover the entire city.

In addition, 650 schools in Delhi are participating. Response training from students and teachers is being received in emergencies such as power outages or air strikes.

Video and training materials have also been shared with schools and the public.

Police patrols have increased day and night, especially in popular public places such as India Gate, Jan Pat, Connaught Square and Gore Market. Coordinated responses involving fire departments, health services, MCD, civil defense and other agencies have been planned.

Safe shelters have been identified and the government is testing how quickly the departments can respond during the crisis. The Ministry of Electricity also discussed possible outage training, although it may not be feasible now.
