Kristi Noem

(Bloomberg) – According to people familiar with the incident, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem had $3,000 in cash in her wallet when she was stolen while dining at a popular Washington, D.C. restaurant over the weekend, an incident currently being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.

The man said Nom was having a meal with his family when he felt that he thought it was the brush he was facing in his legs. It was a moment later that she realized that her wallet was missing and the person had no right to speak publicly.

Officials believe the bag may also hold sensitive items, such as her official Department of Homeland Security lapel pin. Her government-issued phone calls have been restored and have been considered.

The person said surveillance videos reviewed by investigators showed a masked man stole a wallet and quickly left the restaurant. No arrests.

Noem, once one of the most obvious figures in the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement, frequently appeared in TV commercials and social media campaigns, ordering immigrants to go home or be found and deported. She has ridden horses in the southern border area, accompanied federal agents on raids, and advocated for a growing number of immigrant messaging in media appearances.

She briefly resolved theft in a White House Easter egg roll on Monday, saying the matter is still under investigation.

According to another person familiar with the matter, Noem received her entire family in Washington, including her children and grandchildren, and has been sending them for supper, events and Easter gifts.
