KSHRC asked the government. Calls to consider life conviction are issued too early

The Kerala Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) directed the Home Ministry Secretary to review Rajesh's request, a criminal sentenced to more than 15 years in Cheemeni Open prison and released prematurely if considered eligible.
The KSHRC issued the directive after reviewing a petition filed by Rajesh, a native of Kollengode, Parakkad. The petitioner in the 97th session of the Palakard District Court pointed out that several other criminals were released after 14 years of service.
In response to the committee, the principal of Cheemeni Open Prison informed that at the first prison advisory committee meeting in 2024, it was recommended to release the name of Rajesh in advance, and that the matter is currently under consideration by the government.
