Kumbhotsavam celebrates in Srisailam

Kurnur: Religious enthusiasm at Srisailam celebrated the annual Kumbhotsavam of the goddess Sri Bhramamba Devi on Tuesday.

As part of the ceremony, the first phase of Sattvikabali is performed in the morning, during which coconut, lemon and pumpkin are provided to the goddess in a special ritual. Traditionally, this sacred festival is observed on Tuesday or Friday after the full moon day of the month of Chaitra.

As part of the festive decoration, the temple is decorated with lemons. After the initial ritual, the temple’s priest performed Vavavarana Archana, Trishati, Khadgamala and Ashtottara Shatanama Kumkumarchana in honor of the goddess Bhramamba Devi.

According to tradition, temple Wasserman created a Rajaka Rangavalli (Rangoli) for this purpose and performed a special Pujas in Sri Chakram. In the evening, when rice was poured into Rashi at Simha Mandapam, an important part of Kumbhotsavam was observed. After Pradosha Kala Pooja, Annabhishekam participated in Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy.

Following these rituals, the temple gates were closed, and an employee dressed in women offered Kumbhaharathi to one of the festival’s unique traditions, Bhramaramba Devi.

This year, as part of Sattvikabali, 5,000 coconuts, 5,000 pumpkins and 60,000 lemons were provided. The Kumbhaharathi ceremony also included the supply of large quantities of turmeric and kumbukum, followed by Santhi Prakriya. Traditionally, local businessmen and devotees donated lemons, coconuts and pumpkins for this sacred occasion. During the celebrations, Temple Executive M. Srinivasa Rao and other senior officials were present.
